Topic: This american life
The Chicago public radio in the U.S has a very interesting radio show called "This American Life". It's a weekly show about random stories that are just so unusual, bizarre, and some other times they're just so colorful, entertaining and inspiring.

But what I think makes the show so successful is the fact that all those stories that are told every week represent a side of life, more specifically "the American life" that we usually don't get hear about often.

The show that is now available for free download on This American Life's website is called "Mistakes were made" the descri'ption of the shows reads:

"It's the late 1960s, and in the new technology of cryonics, a California TV repairman named Bob sees an opportunity to help people cheat death. But freezing dead people so scientists can reanimate them in the future is a lot harder than it sounds."

I thought it was a very strange story that touches on a subject that I can relate to, not because I want to be in suspended animation after I die, but because I don't want to die.

Anyway, the show is very easy going, it has a bit of an intellectual feel to it, and it's about an hour long, but I thought time passed by very fast while I was listening to it...maybe if you guys want to check it out, we can talk about it...

Death...the ever so controversial topic. I got over the feeling of fear a long while ago, never felt better since.

Will be interesting, thanks for sharing.

I'm not really afraid of dying, like the process of dying and all that stuff, I just don't want to die. I'm a big fan of life extension because there are so many things I want to do with my life, so many more that I want to see!! and dying kinda screws up my plans :)

Absolutely agreed. Modern Society doesn't allow us to do all things we would like to now. Nowadays one can't simply stop working for a while, because the income just doesn't add up. And as such there's no space in life for other things >.>

I think when people get rich, the spend too much money on passive things. A new house. A television. A yacht, which is where you just go out and do the same old nothing, only on water. If I had the money, I would spend it on skydiving and things like that. (After cost of further education of course)

The point I'm trying to make is that when you buy lots of passive things, nothing gets better. You buy a million dollar house, then go sit on the couch like always. You get a gourmet kitchen, then hire someone to cook for you (to some f you this may not seem so horible, but if I paid for the kitchen, I would fix my own meals). You buy a fifty trillion inch tv but you're still watching the same crap on it. Same with the stereo, only change inches to amps. It's the old Ron White principal. You dress a turd in a tuxedo, it's still a turd.

the point of daniel is very good.
when you get rich you still make the same crap, but in a more elevated economical value.
wht I read (or someone told me) in somewhere is ths: the humans try to fill the whole they have inside with material things, while this whole can only be filled spirituality.
when I talk about spirituality I am not talking about any kind of god (I know the name of this group), I am talking about having a purpouse or a goal.
what I am talking about is ideals. think about V of "V for vendetta" he was convinced that his life had a purpose, that he wasnt worthless, he mean something.
I think that is why the human is looking for eternity ultimatly. see pirates of the caribean 3; jack sparrow wants inmortality, but then his father told him that the most important is not how long is your life, it is what you do while you have it.
so make something about your lifes.

Bluek Bluk KYU

I also don't want to die, being immortal is my prime aim. The reason is that I don't want to stop my life, death is a total end to your existence. Well, it is good that I live in 21-st century, thanks to genetical engineering.

To my mind, death is not something we should be afraid of.personally I feel excited in the thought of it.I am really curious to find out how it is,not to be worried about anything anymore.the reason I am still alive is that I am afraid of the pain.you could just face death from a different point of view, something like a new experience.
