Topic: {Consumed} 8 July 2008
Consumed by guilt
controlled by fear
she crouched down by
forbidden fires
"They used to burn for you"
she said

The fire dwindled then died
"What does that mean?"
"A metaphor of the heart"
I said

She didn't understand
I was lost
washed out to sea
Soul bleeding
unmerciful
through vacant eyes

Seabirds soar over burning memories
lost forever
burning carcass
floating out
helpless
further out
to infinity
ashes to ashes

Broken as a shattered world
a world once ours
a world now
there's for the taking
