Here is an interesting use of language. I don't know if all Philipinos do this but one does:

"He made me do it" means he let me do it.

"He let me do it" means he made me do it.

It has something to do with being non-confrontational, which is very important.

Whenever someone says "I don't mean to be rude, but..."
They mean to be rude.

I'm sure the British invented this one: when they want you to go away they say "It has been so nice seeing you!."

Often what someone says is the opposite of what they mean.

On the profile of someone I know his occupation is listed as "to be real". This means he has never been real in his life and it is a distant goal. A person who is real would take it for granted and never say such a thing.

Without exception, every woman who said to me: "trust me", was about to stab me in the back. A trustworthy person does not have to say that.
