Bored of the Muslim-Christian discourse now. Anyone up for some ideas on the influence of al-Hind on the faith of Abraham?
Why is the lay-out of the Jewish temple the same as that for a Hindu temple? Where did the burning of incense originate from? The symbol of the sacred cow was not exclusive to India (found in Egypt as Apis) but where did it originate, east or west? Now, regarding Islam. Why do Muslim's look like Buddhists when they undertake the Hajj? There are many images in Islamic Iranian paintings where men are dressed as shamans with a bull's head on a stick and in a one I even saw a man with 6 arms holding symbolic tools. Obviously these aren't deities, but what are they and how did they appear on Islamic weapons and armour? Posted by Truyen Tin

Just to add somethng I forgot. A number of movements of prayer, including putting head to the ground while on knees as well as twisiting back to right and left, are found in yoga. Did they originate there or did yoga adopt them into the Indian system from Islam?

Interesting varian Truyen.
I know hinduism and Indian culture quite well. About its relationship with other cultures, there are some periods of history in which India had strong relationships with Middle East. About what you say regarding Yoga position, I practiced Yoga and I can tell you that those position are Indian. So or this is a coincidence or Islam took those movements from the Indian doctrin. The holly cow.
About this, I underline that the cow is a common animal, really important in many cultures of that area of the world, so that its sanctity can be related to its social importance. This could be the reason why it's holly in many cultures. It's a matter similar to the pyramids: Egyptian and Precolombians built pyramids but this doesn't mean a common origin of the two cultures ... Posted by Luca

I didn't say "left to right", I said "right and left". And yes we do. When we finishe the prayer we turn putting chin over shoulder to say "assalamualaikum" to the angel on the right, and then to the one on the left. It is hard to visualize what I meant with words, but hopefully you know what I am talking about now. This movement is a yoga movement also.

I tried to post some pics but I am not so good with pc's
I have taken tons of pictures here in Thailand and I tell u that the similarities between Buddhism/Hindu and Islam are soooooo many. What ever movement or gesture supposedly to be part of Islam and is not written in the Quran can be seen done by these pagan Hindi religions. -THe bowing down face to the floor -The "Mulsim" pilgrimage -The "Mulsim" prayer movements - Clothes worn durin pilgrimage - The Tasbih beads -The circling of stone structures.. THE HINDU AND THE BUDDHIST HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR MORE THAN 3000yrs!!!!!!!WHO COPPIED WHO HERE?!!!!!!!!! Amazing that these pagan rituals are now part of Islam and nobody seems to be bothered by it. Some how Muslims can not think that they have been duped by these Arabs who cunningly added this pagan rituls so that they keep their beloved "Kabba" from being an unIlamsic symbol/place. It a well known fact that Arabia got their statue/stones worshipping habits from India where there was a spice trade between the nations. It is no wonder that ANYTHING CONNECTED TO KABBA fails when common sense is applied to it. FACTS: Arabs worship/worshipped stones especialy those that fell from the sky!!! Allah has REPEATEDLY called Arabs Blasphemous and hypocrites. Allah has never asked ANYONE to build a mosque/temple on his behalf. Infact Allah denounces the facing of ANY PHISICAL DIRECTIONS............. Quran 2:177 It is not DUTIFUL that you turn your faces towards the east or the west. But the DUTIFUL is that you believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and His messengers; and they give (some of) his wealth out of love, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves; and they manifest their Commitments and the Zakat); and they keep their word whenever they make a promise; and they steadfastly persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and war. These are the truthful; these are the righteous Posted by Yunis
