Journal
This morning my devotional ure was John 6:15-21. For you Bible scholars, you probably know that this is John's account of Jesus walking on the water. I have read this ure many times, and sometimes we as Christians get so ritualistic, not only in our church activities, but also things like reading the Bible, that we miss what God is saying. Or it may be that we hear it, but it fails to come alive within us. So, today, as I have been tring to do of late, with renewed vigour and passion....I was reading this portion of ure, when God revealed something to me that I have never seen before. This was not the fact that Jesus has power over the elements (which He undoubtedly has) but the word "IMMEDIATELY" in v. 21. To fully understand this wod we have to look at the account from the begining...as my dad would say. This was the evening after Jesus had fed the 5000 men, the disciples were on their way to Capernum and there was a "great wind" blowing. John goes on to say that they continued to row for 2-3 miles. How many times we face storms and try to fix them on our own. From the remainder of the ue we can pick up two points: 1. WHEN TRIALS OR STORMS ARISE IN OUR LIFE, GOD IS GETTING READY TO REVEAL HIMSELF...just like he did on that sea, to His disciples and 2. WHEN HE SHOWS UP, ONCE WE SUBMIT TO HIS LEADING, HE WILL DELIVER US IMMEDIATELY!
